She was born Sept. 11, 1927, in Augusta, Maine, the daughter of an upholsterer and a homemaker. She graduated from Brunswick High and worked as a waitress and in a shoe shop. She married George Lacy in 1962 and they had three childre n, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, and the family lived in Japan and Morocco while her husband was in the Navy. Lacy has many hobbies, including knitting, painting, ceramics, rock polishing, jewelry-making, quilting and making macrame chairs.
